Resolution Interrupted

My New Year’s Resolution was a bit of a silly one. It was to simply shave every day. I immediately got off on the wrong foot when I forgot to shave on New Year’s Day. Eventually I got it more under control and had a good week of shaving every day. However as I started to shave more regularly something started to happen. The razor bumps that I had developed and rid myself of the previous year returned in force.

They were the main reason I wasn’t shaving every day and would sometimes go so long people would ask if I was growing a beard. Instead of lathering Compound W all over my face like I did previously I went to a doctor and they prescribed me a couple face creams. One is cortisone and the other is apparently the strongest antibiotic on the market despite the doctor telling me the razor bumps are simply ingrown hairs. They also suggested that I trim instead of shave. In other words an electric razor.

The bumps are healing and the every other day shaving routine I have been on is working, but as we are reaching the end I decided I want to speed it up and yesterday I went to my parent’s house to get my father’s old electric razor.

I hate it. I have never been a big electric razor person. My facial hair is far thicker than my father’s was and an electric razor just doesn’t get the job done. For the most part the bumps aren’t as irritated as they were with my conventional razor but I did get a good bit of razor burn as I had to shave for triple the time or more in order to get everything. Perhaps if I use the electric every day it will be better but I would really like to have smooth baby soft skin on my face and neck instead of the witch’s brew of unattractive, hard bumps I have now.
