My daughter came running into the kitchen wearing plastic gloves and carrying a sponge. I told her we would wash the cars this weekend. She was so excited that she was ready right then and there. I explained to her that we couldn’t wash the cars right then and there because mom had one of the cars out and the other was currently blocked in the garage. She was a little disappointed but decided to hang onto the sponge.
We returned to the den. Me to my book and Abigail to her YouTube shows I don’t always like. At a certain point I was locked into my book and suddenly a sponge hits me in the side of the face. I look at Abigail and she says, “Adios.” I was a little confused at this moment in time. I had just been hit in the face with a dry sponge and afterwards my daughter happily yelled, “adios.” I had no ideas.
She then explained to me the rules of the game. It was my turn to throw the sponge to her and if she caught it I had to say, “adios.” So I threw her the sponge, she caught it, and then she yelled at me, “Now you say ‘adios.'” I went along with it. What else was I to do?
The game progressed and eventually we ended up in the foyer with me throwing the sponge to the top of the stairs and Abigail throwing it down to me. At some point during this the sponge ended up on top of a piece of furniture and this happened to be the exact moment that mom returned from work and asked, “What is going on?” It was a bit of an explanation, but at the end of the day I am looking forward to washing the cars with my daughter.
If you’re wondering what started all this we can back up. I received a package delivery from Amazon that included a shammy for drying the cars. When I went to the hardware store the other day they didn’t have one so I ordered it online. It showed up yesterday, Abigail demanded to open them, and then we ended up playing catch with a sponge in the foyer.
This is where the real joy and blessings of life are found. In the common, mundane tasks of daily living.
