Date Night at Sorella’s: A Review

There is a lot of bright side to look at this morning. Last night was another edition of the churches marriage series. That meant we got affordable childcare and a date night. The restaurant we wanted to go to was closed because restaurants in the resort area are full of wise business owners that close their restaurants in the middle of tourist season on a night everyone is looking for a quick meal near their hotel.

We ended up back at the Italian restaurant that we went to on the first date night of this series and had another fantastic meal. I opted to order a tequila old fashioned to go along with my linguine with clams that was a bit different but still delicious. I’ve never had linguine and clams with a cream sauce and pretty sure this wouldn’t count as authentic Italian but it was still excellent and cream and clams go great together.

The thing I really like about this Italian restaurant, Sorella’s, is they don’t memeify their food to make every meal feel like an eating challenge. The pasta is served in a medium sized bowl and clearly meant for one person.

I remember a time when there was an Italian restaurant not far from where we were last night that would bring out an entire pan of pasta and put it on your table. It was clearly meant to be shared and was before Instagram but if you didn’t think about sharing everyone at the table would end up with close to 2 lbs of pasta and would be eating it for a week. It was really good pasta and I never minded the leftovers. I was also 14 and not paying for it.

It is refreshing though to find a restaurant that relies on the quality of their food and not the quantity. Some of my favorite local restaurants are Instagram factories but there are times when I want a lighter dinner that isn’t going to leave me feeling like I need to be rolled home and Sorella’s delivers that.
