Everyday is a new emergency. That is how it sometimes feels. I started this week thinking we were just about through things and then we got a phone call at dinner telling us there is a rodent infestation at one of our properties that needs taken care of, and this morning I decide to visit our company website on my phone and it is blank. This is very bad.
I feel like for every step we get to take forward there are 778 we’re taking back. The idea that the struggle makes us better is starting to frustrate me. The oddest thing is I’m not mad this morning. I was worried about why we weren’t getting contact form submissions from our website and now I know. I am grateful for knowing the problems we face, because knowing is half the battle and when you know about a problem it can be dealt with.
It is another thing though and other things are not what I need. I want smooth transitions and uninterrupted flow. Today I have to go to a lawyers office to finally get added to my family’s business so that it can be managed. Then it becomes about executing plans and getting things taken care of.
We have the last place rented and that will start bringing in income instead of simply being an expense. So there are things moving in the right direction. Just not the things I want moving in the right direction. Which is everything.
Today is the last day of school for the boys. Yesterday when they got off the bus we greeted them with water guns and water balloons and soaked them and their bus stop friends. I also realized we’re in the year 2025 and directly contacted the manufacturer of one of my father’s watches to have it serviced. Hopefully that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I also went out with my beautiful wife to celebrate Father’s Day. So things are going well.
We focus on the negative. I saw a test somewhere that had a white square with a single black dot in the lower right hand corner and it asked where your eyes went. We do tend to focus on the negatives in our lives, but roof rats and a blank website on mobile are pretty big problems to have. Again things are good and just like every other challenge that has been laid before me I will conquer these as well.
