A Long Awaited Journey

Traditionally on the Sunday of our trip to Gettysburg we have gone to The Land of Little Horses. The kids all enjoy it immensely and we spend too much money to wonder around a mini horse zoo. This year I decided we would do something different. My first thought was going to a working Amish farm and doing a tour there, but as I learned with last night’s ghost tour, whims are less fun now. Too many people are planners.

Then it came to me. I was thinking about the Lego Discover Center being $25 and how that isn’t a bad price, and I thought that if Hershey Park had some deal that made them $50 we could do that. When I visited the Hershey Park website I was shocked to discover that in honor of the 50th anniversary of their Kissing Tower their tickets are $50.

So, today we go to Hershey Park. I will finally get to ride Skyrush and The Wild Cat’s Revenge and other roller coasters I have never ridden before. I didn’t yet purchase their version of the quick que because it was adjusted to be at $65 of a ranger of $45 – $125 which makes me think they aren’t expecting a huge turnout and I’d rather not spend an additional $65. Plus the kids are somewhat easier to deal with now than they have been in the past and I don’t expect Lara and the kids to just wait for me outside the ride. We can designate a meeting place.

I think the kids are going to have fun today. They will get to tour a chocolate factory and go to Zoo America. That is going to be fun for them. I just want to know how Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion, and Hershey Park are all having 50th anniversaries this year. What happened 50 years ago that all these amusement parks were being build.

I got to tell you, I am no different than the kids. I am ready to ride some rides and have some fun. We might be getting the skip the line pass and all day dining added on to our purchase once we get to the park and see how things are, but for now we’ve spent enough money. Even though we do have to eat.

This is something I have been wanting to do for years now, and I think it is going to be fun for everyone.
