I have my new glasses and I can see again. It is a pretty good feeling, but these progressive lenses are going to take some getting used to. They are meant to be two prescriptions in one but the lens has three types of glass. The top is for the distance vision, the bottom for close, and then the sides are nothing. The sides are the weirdest part because it feels like the glasses are dirty. I keep catching the glimpse of smudges out of the corner of my eye, but it is just the fact that the glass on the sides has no prescription.
The ability to see is fantastic though, and the fact that my eyes aren’t straining through and old prescription is even better. Everything is crisp and clear and how it was intended to be viewed. That is one problem down, and hopefully I can get a few more checked off before the week is over.
Speaking of problems I have mentioned before the strange family curse where everything has a small but annoying extra degree of difficulty added to it, and it struck again yesterday. About a week ago I received an e-mail from the soccer league where I signed the boys up asking me to be the coach for Windsor’s team. I thought this was weird as I’d signed up Windsor and Roland. I told them I couldn’t be the coach and asked about the missing brother and was told of course they’re on the same team the guy just didn’t want to send the e-mail twice.
They were not on the same team. Team assignments came in yesterday and Roland was on a team with a coach, a very experienced coach, and Windsor’s team still said no coach. After receiving a message from Roland’s coach I questioned this and asked if Windsor was in fact on her roster and it was a technical mistake or if he wasn’t on her roster and the league had f’d up. The league had f’d up.
The issue was resolved overnight and Windsor is now on the team with his brother and all is right with the world, but it is an extra step. One I annoyingly had to take and a perfect example of how this curse works. Small, minor inconveniences that happen way too frequently.
