Back to School

Today is the last Friday before the kids go back to school. We’re not ready in any way, shape, or form, but I don’t think anyone ever is. The boys school supply list changed several times and kept becoming more and more different. To the point that they got what we got and will have to deal with the rest.

The one thing that was the most interesting to me was to see Windsor in his school environment. His mind was going four thousand miles an hour in a hundred different directions. His teacher asked him his name and he spelled it for her. Then he kept trying to do an handstand while trying to tell her thank you for the ring pop but that he didn’t like the piece of paper she stuck to it.

It is interesting because he isn’t like that at home. He gets hyper focused on watching his favorite Minecraft streamers or playing with his toy monster trucks or pretending to be a zombie and chasing his brother through the house. It is interesting to see him in a different environment where he can neither sit down or slow down. He can only move forward at break neck speed in too many directions. Hopefully his teacher is up for the challenge and can get him to slowdown and settle down.

His class is full of friends and he has lots of friends in the school. So many other kids called out to him. I would have thought with all the notes we got of him kicking people in the head that he wouldn’t have that many friends but everyone wanted to talk to him to the point that the couple times Roland’s name was called out it was to get Windsor’s attention.

Some of these kids are going to grow up together. This is a heavy military area so a lot of them will move away, but this is where lifelong friendships begin and I hope that these early friendships develop into longer ones for these boys. The thing with twins is they will always have each other and have a unique bond that I cannot understand. They are both growing and changing every day and I am happy to be part of their journey.

Now I need to go to the Wal-mart and get one of those signs for them to hold up on the first day of school, and size three soccer ball for their soccer practices that begin next week. I hope they enjoy that as well. It will be another new experience for them as all we have done up until this point is baseball.

I hope they make lots of friends, have lots of fun, and learn something along the way.
