The biggest problem with waking up late is I do not get to enjoy a quiet morning. Everything is already insane. The kids are awake and have taken over all the TV’s. Part of it is teaching my daughter bad habits. She is learning that her tears can get her way. Originally I said that she couldn’t watch the TV in my room, then I said the TV only plays Bluey, and then I finally gave in and now she is watching one of her YouTube shows.
How many parents throughout history had to deal with issues they never realized would exist? The entire world of YouTube streamers is known to me only through my children. My children and WWE.
The VCR became a mainstream household device when I was a kid and then I hit puberty just in time for late night on the premium channels, but my parents never dealt with these problems. They were only confused when the video tape labeled MacGyver was definitely not MacGyver.
Cellphones started to become big my last year of High School, but they weren’t smart yet. They were just number buttons and could call people. We did use that phone to hire a stripper and charged everyone in our High School admission to watch, and that couldn’t have been done with a landline as we didn’t want a chance of the parents answering the phone when the booking was confirmed.
So, what challenges or mischief will my kids get up to thanks to technology I do not understand. They probably already want to have their own streaming show and might end up with candy bars and energy drinks named after them. I have no idea what they are going to deal with in their life times.
AI is the biggest new thing. It is going to be a challenge to deal with when it comes to writing papers in school, but they are in the 1st grade and pre-K 4. I can’t imagine it being a challenge at this point. At this point we need to enjoy the ride of them being children until they aren’t, and then they will be pre-teens, and we’ll be doomed.
