Family Fun Day

I can’t say that yesterday was the best day we’ve had as a family but it was up there. It was definitely the least stressful if also least successful day we’ve had at Water Country, but that almost doesn’t matter.

I was completely wrong about Water Country on Labor Day weekend. It was not crowded in the least. It was one of the least crowded days I have seen. Makes me wonder what things were like at Busch Gardens.

We got to Water Country about twenty minutes before it officially opened. A couple water slides near the entrance were up and running but my kids wouldn’t do those so we ended up waiting until we could go to the Hubba Hubba Highway which they all claimed great entrance in going on.

Once the park officially opened and we reached the Hubba Hubba Highway all that excitement immediately ended, and not one kid wanted to go on it despite all of them having had fun on the exact ride a year prior. We got them all on and road around. I did so with Abigail screaming in my ear how she was about to die and I couldn’t let go.

I dropped her off at the entrance and went around again with Windsor. We had some fun but he wasn’t as into it as last year and after the one time around we left and headed to the new kids area. The boys were in the midst of having tons of fun riding on the slides and adventuring through the new climbing area, but Abigail was not having it. The water was too cold for her and she just wanted to sit in the sun.

We tried a couple other places and I eventually ended up in the wave pool with the boys for two rounds of waves. They were now having lots of fun and if we didn’t have their sister along we probably would have eaten lunch in the park and stayed. As it was Abigail was ready to go and we went.

We stopped at a Raising Canes on the way home and ate some tasty chicken tenders and fries while the kids got old fashioned whirly birds as their toy. Once we got home I settled in to watch Florida State upset Alabama and the kids hung out in the front room. They had mentioned pop corn and movie on the way home, and eventually we did that. I fired up the stove, cooked some pop corn, and we ate it while watching the new Superman movie.

Writing it all out it sounds like a fairly average day, but it was full of time together and it felt like a rare day where everyone got along. Despite not enjoying the water park Abigail had no tears, and everything went smoothly. The day was just smooth. We all enjoyed each other’s company and had the perfect family day despite all of its imperfections.
