On the Road Again

In just a little bit I will be getting in my car to drive up to Landover, Md to watch the Washington Commanders play. It is the first live football game I have been to in over a decade or more. Part of that is living in Virginia Beach and the lack of access to football games and the second reason would be none of the teams I like have been worth watching.

Virginia Tech put on another display last night of why no one should waste their time watching those bums and their braindead coach. I swear, Brent Pry coaches like he is unaware of the invention of the forward pass. It also isn’t like he has a QB that can get the ball to the receivers anyway, but you got to at least try.

Back to the good team. Today is when we start to see what Jayden Daniels can do in his second season, and I got to tell you I am excited. Part of that is because of a Virginia Tech wideout they drafted. I watched Layne play last season and it felt like he was open on every play, but Drones just doesn’t have the arm to get him the ball. Last night was a stark reminder of that reality. Layne could end up being a steal thanks to the fact that he played with a quarterback that could never get the ball to him. This year that won’t be a problem.

I don’t know exactly what to expect. Washington never plays well against the Giants and I hope they don’t play down to their competition today. I am also a little unsure about being on the road for eight hours and what I am going to do when I make it to the stadium.

All I know is I am looking forward to stopping at Sheetz to get some of those spicey mozzarella sticks. Then when I make it to the stadium I am going to check out the team store and see if they have anything I can bring home to my kids.

After that I am going to sit in my seat and watch a football game. I hope for the best but in my heart of hearts, as a DC sports fan, expect the worst. Everything points to this being a great season. Jayden Daniels is one of those rare athletes that combine supernatural talent with an ungodly work ethic, and when that happens it creates monsters.

There is a part of me that believes Jayden Daniels is going to break every QB record the NFL has to offer and another that believes his career ends today. Such is the nature of DC sports fandom.
