Feeling the Years

Back in my younger years I spent a lot of time on the road. It was nothing for me to drive hours to visit friends or attend an event, but as the years have worn on my ability to do this has been tested.

This past April I went up to DC to watch a baseball game. I got a hotel for the night before the game and drove home afterwards. Yesterday I did no such thing for the Commanders home opener, and I feel it. I now have doubts about ever doing that again even though I am scheduled to do it again this coming December, and have two other games I haven’t listed for sale yet that I said I would attend.

I feel it in my bones, and I am thankful for the dynamic cruise control or it could be even worse. At one point on 95 I had the thought that I could fall asleep, miss my exit, and end up in Florida thanks to dynamic cruise control keeping me safe enough.

As for the game football is a lot different than other sports. In baseball and basketball I feel like I am getting to see more than what is shown in TV. In watching football live I see far less. In watching replays of some of the big plays I felt like I missed quite a bit. Football is a TV sport and is best viewed on TV.

It is still fun to be a part of a live crowd. The crowd roared and chanted for heroes new and old. There were chants for Terry and Deebo and an excellent intro video for Jayden Daniels. The club section wasn’t bad and the grab and go food is an innovation that should be the norm in stadiums and amusement parks.

If Busch Gardens had their dining pass work like the Commanders gold wristband I would buy it every year. The grab and go was a roped off area where the food was set out, just like it is at normal concession stands, but customer facing. People come in, grab what they want, and leave. You’re allowed one of each type of item per trip but are allowed unlimited trips.

It was the best part, and not just because it was all you can eat. It was the best because there were no lines. You went in, got food, and were back watching the game a minute later. Again this is a set-up that should be standard in stadiums and amusement parks everywhere.
