Binge Watching

Yesterday I found myself alone with my children. This was and still can be a terrifying ordeal, but yesterday they were mostly good. There were a couple instances of them being rotten scoundrels, but not nearly as many as there used to be. They were largely good. They hung out and played with each other. They spent some time outside, but were mostly inside. At one point they were playing veterinarian and bringing their sick animals to each other.

With all this goodness from the children I decided to binge watch TV. I never binge watch TV. If I have free time I exist in a bit of a rotation where every 30 minutes to an hour I am jumping to another thing. Cycling between reading, watching TV, and playing video games, but I had finished a book earlier in the day and wasn’t ready to start a new one and my brain wasn’t in the mood for video games.

While I have been dealing with my allergies I have mostly just wanted to sit, and watching TV provides the best way to just sit. So, I ended up watching the last three episodes of the new season of Alice in Borderland and the newest episode of Peacemaker consecutively last night. That is around four hours of television which is a lot for me.

As I said the kids were mostly good. We ordered McDonald’s last night and actually got everything we ordered. I am never sure with ordering from the local McDonald’s if the restaurant is forgetting a part of my meal or if the dasher is stealing it. Either way we got everything last night.

The kids complained a little as they told me they wanted six piece nuggets and I got them four. They have yet to consistently eat the six piece. They have to earn the six piece and last night eating all the four piece might have done it, but with all the extra fees Door Dash ads we won’t be doing it when we order delivery and we’re only going to order delivery when I have no way to leave the house.

I had to call upon my double arch rivals yesterday in order to feed my children because 1. the three car seat vehicle wasn’t at home, 2. I forgot to pull chicken from the freezer, and 3. it makes the kids happy.

Today I do have some real gratitude to share. I am grateful that my kids are getting older and more self sufficient. Even if it is only slightly.
