A lot happened yesterday. Mostly it was activities for the kids. We had their soccer game in the morning and martial arts pizza party in the early afternoon. The latter wasn’t quite a sales pitch. We had to sign up for the sales pitch. I already have my script of now isn’t the time down. The problem is at the least it is going to be around $250 a month as both boys want to do it and currently paying $650 a month for Abigail to go to school and needing to help out with my mother’s bills there is too much of a financial commitment already.

My kids keep asking if we’re rich or poor and I don’t know how to explain to them that we’re neither but we are broke. Dumb would be the best word for it. Maxed out is another. Thanks to the combination of medical and student loan debt and recent downturns in the economy we have acquired even more debt and that all has to be paid, but we still have to live our lives which means we’re in a cycle that is hard to get out of. At the end of the day it means we’re probably a year away from them being able to do the martial arts they’ve been asking to do for years.

Now for the soccer game. Every now and then in a rec league where teams are randomly decided you come up against one that is at the top of the age spectrum and that is what happened yesterday. Our team was also in some weird funk where they all moved slow and didn’t seem to really want to be there. Windsor was finally starting to get it though. I saw the light bulb go off and he had a break away and almost had a goal. But for that moment he got it. Attack the ball and go to goal. At that age that is all they need to do.

Today should be a good day. I will finally get to go to Sunday school for the first time this session. I technically went last week but it was a special one and not as fun. Between being out of town and ill I haven’t been in our normal Sunday school and I have missed it. I am also grateful for the donuts we get before hand. Those are always good.
