Have you ever had one of those moments? A moment where you realize you are in way over your head. That happened to me yesterday at Busch Gardens. We went because we haven’t been in awhile and it was the Count Spooktacular. It was a day for the kids, and apparently for me to be embarrassed in front of a large crowd.
We walked back through Sesame Street to get to the straw maze and ended up 30 minutes before their big show. At the ten minute mark Abigail went over to claim her seat and I was with her while my wife was with the boys.
At some point a worker came out and was asking for volunteers. To make my daughter happy I decided to volunteer with no idea of what I was volunteering for. The set-up of the show was a game show and that made me think it would be trivia or something I could do. No, it was a dance off.
This might be close to the worst possible outcome imaginable. Luckily for me Abigail refused to leave my side and I ended up with a read made dance partner. We didn’t do so well, but that is mostly because I cannot dance and have trouble thinking under pressure. Basically I have no moves and no way to acquire any in a moment of intense pressure. Luckily Abigail takes dance at school and was ready to help me.
So, I danced with my daughter for an awkward minute and it thankfully ended. The rest of the day saw some minor hiccups. When we got to the point where we normally decide to leave the kids weren’t done. I told Windsor we had to go to get food and he pointed at the Festhaus and informed me they have food here.
His argument won and we ended up spending $65 for two cups of grapes, two drinks, French fries and chicken, mozzarella sticks, and fried pickles. Not the best meal in the world but it got the job done and the kids rode a couple more rides and then argued some more that they wanted to stay. They even went so far as to say they weren’t afraid of no ghost and would be good for the Hallow-Scream. We didn’t believe them and ushered them out of the park.
