An Extra Degree of Effort

The next time I want an answer from a lawyer I am going to ask the question a couple extra times. In all this dealing with the family business and finances we put things in place where legally I could do what was necessary. What I am finding is that it doesn’t matter. It adds a layer of difficulty that either people don’t want to deal with our that adds extra challenges.

As it is I am the one that asked the question and opened the door. It is better to know the challenges we’re going to face that way they can be overcome. The issues arise when we expect the groundwork that we laid to work.

The power of a contract is in its acceptance. If someone refuses to acknowledge it it loses power. Imagine if tomorrow everyone decided to stop acknowledging the value of money. Money is a contract. It is a contract that you at some point have provided goods or services for the general well being of society and you are exchanging that money to someone else for their goods or services.

Our society is full of mini contracts. If all of a sudden people stopped acknowledging them it would be chaos. The problem with these smaller contracts that are isolated to specific or individual needs is that there is a higher chance of them being ignored. It brings about little chaos to ignore the needs of one person or one small group of people.

My goal with all these contracts is to let my mom rest. She needs to rest and feel her best. It does no good dragging an 85 year old with mobility issues and memory issues out into the world to sign a bunch of documents. She is better served to be left resting at home.

I do get the legal checking and double checking. I understand the protections, but this is why I got all these contracts. Everything will work out. I know because I’ll make it.
