A Day Off

The big problem is life is busy, even when it’s not, and this week has been busy. The issue is it isn’t busy in the way I need it or want it to be. This past week started with bad news, more bad news, and then continuing news that was neither good nor bad but made things busy. It took a lot of effort to make it through last week, and now we’re here.

We are here on a say where the only commitment we should have is church, but today we’re going to stay home. I do not feel like leaving the house today. I feel like staying in, sitting on my couch, and having a day.

Some might question that wasn’t that yesterday. We didn’t leave the house once yesterday. We sat on the couch and did nothing for most of the day yesterday. Except for the two hours when we had a bunch of kids and their families in our home. That was different and made things busy.

Now we have a chance for a true day off. No work or personal obligations. A true day to ourselves. A day of doing nothing but enjoying time with the people we live with. Nothing on top of more nothing. A day to relax and refresh, because as soon as Monday begins I’m going at the bank trying to get this loan finished, and with all their delays I do believe we should be owed some concessions.

At this point the things the bank needs are more minor annoyances than anything else, but it still takes time to collect them and send them over. All of this causes more and more and more delay. Every delay stacks to a new delay, and every time they ask us to reconfirm facts not in question is time we don’t need to waste.

But that is a problem for tomorrow. Today there are no problems. All those problems exist outside of the four walls of this house. They can wait for tomorrow, and they will be dealt with. Today is a day to prepare and the way to prepare is to relax and let the outside world be outside.

We aren’t ignoring what we have to deal with but those problems don’t impact today either. There is no reason in bringing them in when we don’t have to. Let tomorrow’s problems wait for tomorrow. Today is a day of rest and relaxation.
