With every phase of my plan timing has bit me hard. I am working through them. The biggest issue is the decline of my mother’s health. I am afraid it is reaching a stage where it is going to be exponential if we aren’t already there. If I had known her health was going to be this much of an issue the 1031 exchange might not have been a part of this plan.
With that aside out of the way the new timing issue is how the bank is giving us the money to pay our debts. The easiest way would be an online transfer with a promise and a penalty. If I don’t use the money to pay the loans the bank can immediately raise the interest rate or something else, but I have full control to pay what I owe in the modern fashion. The other would be to have me sign some sort of POA authorizing the bank to pay the debt on my behalf.
Does the bank do it in either of those ways? No. They are writing me several checks and it is on me to deliver the checks to the necessary parties. I am paperless on every one of these debts. I don’t know the mailing address for the ones I am going to have to mail, and for the car payment that is a lot of money to trust to USPS.
So, now I am going to be spending a little extra money in order to send most of these certified mail. The rest I will take directly to bank branches and that will get some of it taken care of while we wait for the rest.
As far as getting those checks. That is Monday. However, before Monday arrives we have to get through all the other days of the week and a weekend where we are travelling out of town. At this point I don’t know if that is a bad thing or a good thing. This week is very busy as it is. Adding driving around to banks and mailing things to the agenda would make it even busier. It might be good this is next week, but I am going to have to spend money while on the trip, and that I am not looking forward to.
I would like to clear the deck before spending more money. Get this all taken care of and off the books. Instead it is more waiting, and then waiting for a letter to post, and then waiting for them to deposit the checks. Waiting, waiting, and more waiting. Always waiting. Time is the great enemy that marches against us all.
