Tomorrow is the Big Day

Last night one of the kids had a minor meltdown because they were tired of waiting. They want it to be Christmas now. Today is a busy day, and it will be over before they know it. Tomorrow will be Christmas day.

I am unsure how aware the kids are of what their gift is or might be, but I know when they open it they are going to be excited. I am going to be excited to see them. It is going to be an interesting and fun time. It is there first really big gift and the first Christmas that it feels like they are completely aware.

I hope everything goes well. I worry about the durability of their Christmas gift and I don’t know why I am keeping it so secretive. It isn’t like any of them read this blog. I got them a Switch 2. It has been sitting in my closet for the last four months because I thought it would be harder to find.

They are in stock everywhere. Which shows how bad the economy is. What should be the hottest gift of the season causing people to go full Turbo Man is instead sitting on store shelves. It is a tad confusing to see because there is other evidence that people are easily reckless with their money. I drove by the Trader Joe’s grand opening and there were cars stretched out the parking lot and down the street.

I guess there is a difference between wanting to spend money at a grocery store grand opening and buying a Nintendo Switch 2. It is a $500 piece of hardware that I am afraid my kids are going to break in less than a day.

I told my wife the other day that the Switch 2 solves so many of the gaming problems we’ve had. Think about yesterday. I went to work, came home, went out immediately to the grocery store, fought the crowd there, came home and had to deal with a little princess wanting a feast, finally eat my lunch, want to sit down and relax with a nice video game, and find my wife and daughter starting a movie. It turned out good. I watched the movie with my daughter and spent more quality time together, but if we had the Switch 2 I could have been playing a game while spending time with them.

It is at this moment that my wife would ask me who the Switch is for and I would have to remind myself it is for the kids, but I am excited to dive back into the world of Mario and Zelda and Samus and Donkey Kong and all our Nintendo favorites.
