It might be another manic Monday, but it is also a good day for a bit of a reset. A time to look both forward and back. A time to think about the week that was and the week that is coming up. We’ve had a number of busy weeks and this one looks to be no different. Though it is busy in a different way.
We have opened up our hiring. This is the one area of our business where everyone is an expert. I even awkwardly explained to someone, completely unprompted, that this is where I hate suggestions the most. People have suggested we recruit from local hiking clubs, Doordash drivers, and other people with either an interest in walking or driving around. The big thing is what we’re doing works, and there is no good reason to stop doing what works to do something else.
With the idea of resetting in mind. Think back on the previous week and what worked and what didn’t. Then do more of what worked and less of what didn’t. It sounds simple, but in times like this where everything slows down it is a good time to have a reset. To think about what was and where we need to go.
Personally the week is going to be interesting. We are starting off with a sick child. The flu has made it to our house and so far has only claimed one of us, but that impacts all of us. Because with that child home someone is going to need to watch her. Today that is my wife as she has a car appointment this morning and then not much until the afternoon, but the afternoon appointment was the sick child’s dentist appointment.
That makes this a week of lots of juggling and rescheduling as well. Tuesday night is martial arts and it isn’t one the boys are going to want to miss. That means someone has to stay with the sick child while the other runs out with the boys. It isn’t too much trouble but not everything is on the calendar and I have scheduled a lot of interviews here.
We are going to see how this week goes. Last week we got a lot done, and the 2026 plan is starting to take shape. Now we need to keep doing what worked and make 2026 the best year yet.
