Sooner than we realize we are going to start having to answer some of the big questions that science fiction has proposed to us over the years. I have thought about this as AI use has moved from a curiosity to acceptance. It feels like no one is having the debate anymore about the ethics of it and AI trends are all over Facebook.
It is crazy to watch the world change so rapidly and because AI’s main strength is speed this is only going to accelerate. My mother used to joke about the little man that lived in the radio. Now we can summon that little man from thin area. We can create our own wildest dreams nearly immediately. It is a crazy and wild world.
I don’t really know what to do with all this. Part of me is excited as a business owner and another part is terrified as a citizen of planet earth. New technology breaks down barriers. It democratizes the world. It makes access easier to everything, but erasing the gap of talent feels like something else.
AI is really good at anything that involves patterns and music is all about patterns. It is also really good at recipes. It is a little crazy. Where it fails is anything where time is involved or shorter form tasks. Something like writing short Facebook copy. That is where I have had the most trouble with it. It always wants to be observational and say dumb things.
Bending the machine to my will has proven difficult in that one area, but in others I have it working for me. Like improving the entire backend of our website and fixing one of our biggest issues we’ve had over the years. Now we hope all this pays off one day.
