Three in a row. That was the thought I had earlier this morning when I remembered I was going to Sky Zone again today. Sky Zone has become the birthday zone of Virginia Beach and today we are heading into the second of three consecutive birthday parties at the place. Around a month ago I took my daughter over there for a birthday and we had a bit of fun. It is an interesting crowd and she had fun playing.
I don’t know what makes Sky Zone suddenly the go to birthday spot in Virginia Beach. It might just have hit that sweet spot where it has been around long enough to have proven itself and still new enough to be interesting.
That or they ran some type of birthday special. We know how these places work. One birthday is lead generation opportunity and places that make you sign waivers have automatic lead gen at their disposal. Thought, thinking about it, I have never gotten any emails from any of these places close to my kids’ birthdays. That confuses me. Seems like an easy low hanging fruit win.
For one reason or another Sky Zone is suddenly the go to birthday spot. I don’t know how much different it is than Get Air or the other local trampoline parks. In all honesty it feels smaller and more contained and maybe that is the plus. People in Virginia Beach overreact to negative events at places like the Boardwalk and Lynnhaven Mall but that is what happens when a city is founded because of white flight.
Sky Zone is in a “safe zone” on General Booth Blvd in the middle of a shopping center and not attached to an ultra dangerous mall where Victoria’s Secret or Yankee Candle might eat the children. Who knows what other dangers lurk at the mall.
And it isn’t proximity. We are going to parties for children that live near us. It takes less time to get to the mall than it does to travel down General Booth. I can’t think of the reason, but as long as the kids have fun I am good, and if they don’t have food I like I can always go to Taco Bell.
