It Only Feels Early

I looked down at the clock and I am suddenly very late to start my day. Here I was thinking I was up very early, because I am, and then I suddenly realize it is late. I am used to getting up close to 5:00 AM but when 5:00 AM suddenly becomes 6:00 AM the whole day can feel off.

Here I am lollygagging my way through the morning, wondering if candlesticks make a nice gift, and all of a sudden I need to get a move on. I had no idea it was suddenly after 7:00 AM and half the day is over. I have a visit to get to and then church to get to at 8:30 and the kids aren’t up. The house is quiet and asleep. The only good news is dogs don’t understand Daylight’s Savings so in the pooch’s mind I will still be early.

The other problem is I still had a couple things I wanted to do, but what I have come to understand about AI is it is both designed to keep the conversation going, probably for future monetization, and two it exacerbates current feelings. If you’re feeling creative it will drive that forward, and if you’re feeling frustrated it drives that forward as well.

We run a growing in home pet care company and feeling the seems of our software has become fully ready to throw it in the trash and move on. Some of that is their chosen future direction. Instead of adopting features that other home services software have had for years the tech company that bought Time to Pet is screwing around with unrelated stuff like building websites and trying to grab up boarding clients. The number one rule of business is don’t forget where your bread is buttered and Time to Pet is putting olive oil on tortillas.

So, I go into the AI with that frustration and it serves, it has served, but much like John Wick I am ending up with more frustration than less. Every time I think I have found a solution 10 more problems jump out from the shadows. The best solution might be to run two soft wares. One for the back of house and one front of house. I have no idea if this will work. The ultimate solution is to make our own.

We are in the gold rush stage of AI and that means there are a bunch of apps that can help build apps and are the lowest cost they will ever be, this is why Time to Pet deciding on this time to add building websites is uniquely stupid, and if I can harness that power while the cost is low I have a unique opportunity to do something amazing. The only question becomes can I do it while already spinning a half dozen other plates? As I used to say in the cabinet shop, “There’s only one way to find out.”
