Three years ago we were on vacation in Gettysburg when I got tired of futzing around with the in room hotel coffee machine and took the car up to Sheetz. There I made a wonderous discovery. They had a machine that would grind and then brew the coffee. It was one of the best cups of coffee I had ever had. It was a miraculous moment in my life and whenever I pass a Sheetz now I must stop. I must experience that wonderous coffee.
After returning I researched grind and brews but found nothing in my budget or need. I had a Keurig, Nespresso, stovetop Moka, and a French press. I had so many ways to make coffee, but the taste of that grind and brew wouldn’t leave my head.
I discovered the 7/11 on Shore Dr had a grind and brew setup as well but it was about the same distance from the Sheetz coffee as 7/11 is from Sheetz in general. It was pure disappointment but better than nothing.
Fast forward to yesterday. I had $150 in Target gift cards in my pocket and a birthday coming up next week. I decided to walk through Target and see if they had anything I wanted. My first thought was for Bose noise canceling Bluetooth headphones but those weren’t just more than $150 they were on another level than $150. I then thought about buying $150 worth of Easter candy but quickly nixed that idea.
Then I saw it. The coffee maker section. The thoughts of the past three years. The random checking of Amazon to see if I could find something. I decided to look. I found nothing of the sort for quite awhile, and then I turned the corner and there it was. The elusive single cup grind and brew. It happened to be $100 more than I had in gift cards, but as the song goes, “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.” So, with that, I picked up the machine and marched it to the checkout.
I then immediately went to The Fresh Market and purchased some of their fancy coffee. I am currently enjoying one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had and couldn’t be happier. That is until I finish off the bag I bought yesterday and buy some local fresh roasted coffee and see what difference that makes.
It is time for a whole new journey, and the best part is whole beans cost less than coffee pods, so it won’t be long until I had my $100 back.
