The Easter Bunny Brought Too Much

From Halloween to Easter it feels like all we are doing is eating candy. Halloween is obvious, but soon after that holiday ends we are in the midst of pumpkin pie season and all the Christmas candy that we bring home from the store shelves.

As soon as the Christmas candy is off the shelves the Valentines candy is out and Girl Scout cookies hit the street, and then it is Easter time. This should be an opportunity for a smaller and final load of candy for the year because as far as I know there isn’t another candy holiday until we loop back to Halloween.

Now the house is once again full of candy. I can’t say I mind as the bunny did bring me a basket full of all my favorites, but still. This was not the time for more candy. We’ve just had six months of non-stop candy holidays.

Other than the overabundance of candy Easter was a good day. Personally it was a good day.
The business suffered more trials and strain, but that is what happens when going from a slow end of March right into massive travel surge. These types of big travel times have around them what I think of as a vortex. We get really light right before a big surge because everyone is saving money for the big travel time.

I don’t want to think about business here right now. Today will have enough of that. Instead I’d rather think about the family fun we had yesterday. I like to ask my kids if they had a good day, and this morning Roland decided to ask me if I had a good day yesterday. I can’t recall if that has happened before.

I don’t always do a great job of spending time with my family. We’re in the same house but in the effort to maintain sanity I tend to end up in a different room than the rest of them. They can be a little wild and crazy, and I go and check on them when things sound like they are escalating or one yells, “Get my brother off my face,” but other than that they’ve reached an age where they are self sufficient enough that they don’t always need an adult directly in the room with them.

It is good to spend time with them, and getting to walk around the Botanical Gardens after church was a good idea.
