I Wasn’t Ready to Wake Up to That

Facebook loves to show me odd things first thing in the morning and there is little more odd than the fringe of American politics. This morning I woke up to one of those media complaining about media political rants that was just insane. It was out of its mind crazy.

They had issue with something that most of the media was reporting about a public figure and they were defending the public figure because a foreign media was the first to quote what the public figure said in a recorded speech. In a recorded speech. I think that needs repeating, because the point was that because it was foreign media that first reported what the person said they didn’t say what they said and all other media was wrong. Recorded speech. Free for anyone to watch on YouTube.

This is not what I need first thing in the morning. This would be like someone saying that the Seahawks didn’t win the Super Bowl because the first news organization to report it was the Seattle Times and they have an obvious bias. That it can’t possibly be true and the Patriots clearly won because the Boston Herald got their reporting from the Seattle Times and not the game everyone watched that happens to be available for anyone to watch in replay.

It is absurd and sometimes I wonder if that is on purpose. That we’re all living in a social experiment where fringe political media is saying the most ridiculous stuff to see if people will believe it. At this point I don’t understand. I just know that it is too early for that level of insanity.

Today is going to be a good day. I am going to drive up to DC and watch a ballgame. After that I have no idea what I am going to do. Probably go to my hotel and sleep. That sounds like the most reasonable thing to do, and then on Sunday I will come home. That sounds like the thing to do. I also didn’t realize it was WrestleMania weekend when I made this choice of games to attended but I am at the mercy of the baseball schedule and it isn’t easy to get to DC from Virginia Beach. It isn’t easy to get to DC from DC. Let’s face the facts there.

One way or another this should be a good day. We just didn’t need to wake up to that mind numbing insanity I spent way too long thinking about.
