Yesterday was an important day. Nothing interesting happened. Too many interesting things keep happening and I keep trying to protect myself from them. A day without much happening ends up being welcomed. The biggest part of yesterday is I continued to get ahead on work.
That is my big plan right now. To keep plugging along on the Facebook and blog post schedules so that when summer comes around I have more free days. More flexibility to stay with the kids and to go places as a family.
It won’t be long until school is out. Abigail’s class is doing an alphabet countdown and they just passed G on Friday. The means Monday begins with H and there are only a handful of school days left for her. A couple weeks later the boys will be out and then our lives become a little more adventurous.
I am looking forward to summer adventures. I am also hoping that the silence I have heard this week is the result of low travel demand. I can see the numbers on the measurement sites and can see the website is getting traffic and impressions, but it isn’t translating to phone calls.
That is a rhythm I have observed. We get a travel event like Spring Break and there is a surge of travel during it and then some more after, but suddenly it is silence. May interests me. Two years ago it was one of our best months of the year and last year it was one of our worsts. I don’t know what it will be this year. It is an interesting month.
June has always been the lightest of the summer months, and that is because we live in Virginia Beach. Kids get out of school and people take in the local attractions and stick around for the 4th of July. Once that is done travel picks up and hits its peak around the end of July and the beginning of August.
That isn’t on my mind though. What is on my mind is getting posts scheduled now so that I have less to do when the kids are out of school. Then we can spend more days taking in the local sites ourselves and maybe even heading out of town once or twice ourselves.
