School’s Out

Today is the last day of school and then summer attacks. It will be slightly easier dealing with the kids at home. We won’t have the same rush to get the kids out the door and on the bus, but we do have a vacation bible school lined up for next week. That is the first thing the kids are doing and then the summer will truly be upon us.

It won’t be bad. We have lots we can do and lots we want to do. Right now my main concern is trying to get rid of my main concerns. It does feel like I have bitten off more than I can chew in several directions. I didn’t work yesterday and yet I felt like I was busy and did a lot. It is a strange feeling.

I have paperwork waiting for me, there is something weird going on with banks where ACH payments aren’t leaving the account, and I don’t think I am the only one because when I went to call the bank I got a, “We are experience higher than normal call volume,” message. It is also two different banks having the same issue. No idea what is going on.

It might be worth more exploration today, but hiring for Stable Hands has stalled out. I can’t get anything going in that regard. One reason is Indeed occasionally decides to be useless on my laptop. They have so many pop-ups and everything to begin with and then the smaller laptop screen gives me less than 12 points of writing and reading space in the messages tab meaning I can’t read any of the messages.

This is the way it goes. It looks like solutions are presenting themselves and then delays and other obligations and sometimes shiny objects get in the way and the real priority task gets buried under everything else.

Let’s look at the good parts of the year. Stable Hands revenue is up 30% and Campbell Drive Properties will have doubled revenue in a year once the new properties are closed on and rented out. That isn’t bad work for one person. I have also figured out how to turn my small investment account into both a growth machine and potentially an income machine that could replace my Stable Hands income. Then more money can be invested in that business.

Right now I would describe the position as in the Red Zone, but it’s the 19 yard line 2nd and 8. We’re close but no certainty has been won yet. We got the plays, we got the plan, now we just need the execution and for no defender to make an impressive play.
