I think as I fall asleep. That isn’t always good. Occasionally I will have a really good idea while going to sleep and wake up wondering what I was thinking about. This morning I want to try and resurrect an idea I was having while falling asleep.
Yesterday was an interesting day. We got a new client that wants to give us $5000 a month to hold on retainer and have us on call for him. We figured out an extra charge for being on call and then worked it out and agreed to it. It is a nice chunk of change to have coming in every month and does create a supply and demand type of situation. The question is would someone other than this one person value having a pet sitter/dog walker on call for $60,000 a year.
That wasn’t my thought. That was a real time detour. When my brain gets to thinking it moves way too fast. I have to run after it and bring it back. The thought wasn’t about creating the Stable Hands Private Reserve but about social signaling in common social media post. Could I start hinting at the prestige having a professional dog walker brings.
I was also pissed off at Rover, Wag, and Time to Pet as I fell asleep. I was more angry because if I had their businesses I would already be doing what I said. I wouldn’t be trying to sell pet sitting and dog walking as friendly neighbors walking your dog. I would be selling it as an essential service for anyone that wants to be anyone.
“Snowflake, did you get you’re walk yesterday?”
“No. My dog mom hasn’t hired a dog walker yet.”
“Aghast!!!! You are missing out. The feeling of being pampered by private walks is like nothing else, and when all the neighbors see me out with my private dog walker I can see the jealousy in their eyes.”
“Don’t I know it. I’m one of them.”
Voice Over: Don’t leave your dog out. Hire a private dog walker today.
It feels like it would be so easy to flip the script on the whole industry. Just need the money to get it in front of the eyeballs and then the money to roll up existing pet care businesses and take this thing regional and then national. As I’ve said before the S&P 500 is shockingly bare when it comes to pets and fitness. The opportunity exists and why shouldn’t I be the one to take advantage?
