Rest is important, and that is what I plan to do this weekend. We have a house full of people that had busy weeks, and we could all use a little rest. I didn’t realize just how much time I was spending on trying to fix up the website until I reached the end of that project, and now I am worried I did the opposite of fix it, but everything I have read says these moments are normal and the worst thing to do is more. So, I won’t.
It never felt like I was doing a lot while I was doing it. It was a part of the workflow. I would do my Facebook posts, send messages to clients, do the other things I had to, and then dive into the website. It has now ended. There won’t be anything added for a bit. I need a break from it and it needs a break from me.
I also have a lot of other things going on. I figured out how to make Campbell Dr Properties a more active company. The first was a realization that geography never constrained my father. He would go where the work was or where the best deal could be had, and also the numbers back up his avoidance of taxes.
On our latest 1031 exchange I was fully prepared to take a tax hit on around $100K, but instead I have realized it is better to use up the rest of that money, and we don’t have to get a property that immediately produces value. We can get some land. Buy up a parcel or two of land and then sit on it to develop later. It doesn’t have to be an immediate new project. Right now is about building the foundation, and the foundation of Campbell Dr Properties is local long term rentals.
Without that support system then any other future plans don’t work. We keep the company growing and moving in the right direction. We build up both an equity and reliable income source, and then we use that to expand outward into different income producing buckets. First is buying and developing land and then second will be finding short term rentals in high demand vacation spots. These three buckets will form the future of Campbell Dr Properties.
But there is nothing I can do about any of that now. All I can do is wait and get through this current timeframe. After that is complete we can worry about the future.
