Strawberry Picking in Pungo

Yesterday was a great day for many reasons but the biggest was spending good time together as a family. After church we sometimes eat lunch. Most of the time we are going somewhere that will make the kids happy, but yesterday the word strawberry triggered a part of my mind that remembered it was strawberry picking season.

With that in mind I headed south down past the green line of the city. We ended up almost there when I asked about going to a particular restaurant we haven’t been to for awhile and Lara said that would be a nice idea. I am thinking the last time we were there was before the boys and for something like Father’s Day. Either way it was a long time ago.

It was nice to eat out on the deck near the intercoastal waterway. I like restaurants like that. It’s not really a view, but it is still a nice atmosphere. The cost of the food was about what we normally spend at Fuddruckers or something like that. I’ll taking it for better food and atmosphere.

On the way out of Pungo we stopped at a strawberry field and got three baskets for the kids to fill with strawberries. I ended up helping a couple of them a bit and in the process found out my back does not enjoy that. It became a little painful to keep bending over and picking up strawberries and before too long I did not want to continue but couldn’t stop as I kept seeing strawberries in need of picking.

That was it for our family fun for the day. We headed home and I picked up ice cream sundaes at Burger King. There were a couple of the regular disagreements between the siblings but for the most part it was minimal and they enjoyed the day as much as we did and they’re more enjoyable to be around when they aren’t fighting.
