Betting Odds

Until yesterday I had never bet on sports in my entire life. I’ve bet on black, red, odd, even, pass, no pass, and black jack before, but never on sports. I am a terrible gambler. I understand the risk, consider the money spent before walking into a casino, and will quit when I am up a small amount.

When I was in Vegas in 2008 I found a video roulette machine that was calibrated a certain way. I would play it anytime we were heading out somewhere and collect exactly $20. I would then use this for lunch or coffee before we got on with the rest of our day. This continued for the entire time we were there. Every day collecting small amounts and using it for nominal expenses.

Yesterday I told someone that I was doing options trading and they asked if that was like gambling and my answer was not if you have a theory. Yesterday I did almost the same thing as before. Got up a small amount and sold the options contracts. I then immediately day traded that money like an idiot, but 0DTE Nvidia options have been like that old roulette machine for me.

So that is where I am right now. Collecting small amounts of money, putting it mostly into Amazon until it reaches 100 shares and then into Apple and then Google and then Microsoft. Because I wasn’t starting with enough money to execute my original plan I used these other stocks to do so.

I have been playing with the idea of making a sports wager and when I saw that the Commanders had signed Diggs I went to the MGM app and placed the bets I wanted before the odds changed. I don’t know how much signing a 35 year old wideout changes the odds, but it was the Commanders weakest position and people really are sleeping on a healthy Jayden Daniels.

Either way I made a series of five bets. Commanders winning it all, winning the NFC, and the exact finish of the division, along with the NFC winning the Super Bowl, and the Commanders over 7.5 wins.

It was just $20 on each of those outcomes and it is all, basically, on the Commanders, with very little hedge and probably would have been smarter to just put the entire $100 on a Super Bowl win, but I did what I did and I am ready to see how this team plays.
