It’s Friday

I said something in a business meeting the other day that I should tell my wife. If we recall the original purpose of this journal is to talk about what I am grateful for, and there is no person I am more grateful for than my wife.

What I said was we fill in each other’s missing pieces. It was in relation to communication styles. How I think, speak, and write in bullet points (not literally) and her in paragraphs. She needs details and I enjoy ambiguity. We are different in all the right ways. We fit together and the other’s strengths fill in the gaps of each others weakness.

The real purpose of that discussion was that our weekly meetings needed to restart. We hadn’t been doing them and it was starting to impact the business. So we need to get back to them. It will be good to get back to those meetings. They were a big help.

The last official one I remember was when the restaurant forgot we existed and then tried to argue about it with us. We did a couple at parks and went to Chuck-E-Cheese one day. I don’t recall if we talked much business then. Today we’re going to head to the zoo. That will be good.

Having kids and a business is difficult. It is the ultimate balancing act. Working to prop up society while the thing causing the most damage to that is what will continue society, and this society has no interest in protecting its own future. The CEO of Bank of America was on TV that other day and he said affordability only exists in people’s heads.

As someone running a bank you’d think he would know about the rising housing cost compared to average household income or the amount of revolving debt out there. It is kind of crazy that a CEO of a bank thinks affordability is only in people’s heads.

I don’t have to worry about any of that. I am happy where I am, and I really should go tell my wife about that before she reads it.
