I am listening to a book by the derivatives trader turned philosopher Nassim Nicholas Taleb and in it he makes the point that the best health advice is what we don’t have in our lives, and the health benefits of money. Think about the statement that money can’t buy happiness and it is true, but think about all the stress that lack of money adds to our lives. Taleb makes the point about two very different wealthy people. One uses their wealth to add supplements and personal training and a whole bunch of other things. The other is Warren Buffett. His conclusion is the absence of stress is the most positive benefit of extreme wealth.
We don’t even have to get to the extremes to have it. Just $1000 extra a month would mean a lot to a lot of people, and it won’t buy happiness but it will remove most of what is making you unhappy. Removing financial stress and strain from people’s lives would be the best health and wellness initiative our country or any country could do. There is probably a reason Finland is the happiest country on earth.
I have no control over national politics but I do find it strange that politicians never seem to make the argument that helping people is an investment in the country. That raising the floor raises the ceiling and if people didn’t have to worry about where their next meal was coming from or where they’d lay their head at night it would do a great deal to uplift the entire country. More tax paying adults would also help to put a dent in the national debt as well.
People want a business person running the country and it makes sense, but we should get a good business person in there. Someone that understands investing in people and team culture and not whatever it is we have now. I don’t know how to describe the American political situation other than two well entrenched parties yelling past each other and neither offering anything of substance.
This wasn’t the direction this post was going to take in my mind, but the ten minutes went by fast and I didn’t get to mention a few of the health things I have done lately that I now wonder about. I am going to go ahead and do that now.
My wife saw the BNI presentation for someone from Gameday Men’s Health and suggested I try out their TRT program. I was confused as its main selling point was her main complaint to begin with, and that has been an interesting consequence to deal with, but I do feel fantastic. More energy, faster healing, less brain fog, and that other thing.
Google’s new AI mode is weird. You enter a topic for search and are routed into a conversation. It can be nice but it can also be like just show me the information, but anyway the book I am reading had me wanting to look up the negative impact of hormone replacement, and Gemini said that is more true for women than men, and then asked me for side effects. When I told it I want to fuck anything that moves it routed me back to search.
I don’t know if that counts as a side effect but it is a bit unwanted at times. It’s not really a side effect as it has its uses but the energy, healing, and no more brain fog are big bonuses.
