Something New

I do not know what the point of this is right now, but it could get pretty interesting. I am writing this in the new ChatGPT desktop app. I actually have no idea how new this is. The desktop app could have been around for years. I really do not know. What I know is I discovered it yesterday and just like Columbus discovering America or Elon buying a company I am going to take all the credit. So we are going to explore this desktop app I invented.

I don’t really know what I am doing in here. I am certain the point wasn’t to use it just like I would use Chrome. It is sold as a way to have ChatGPT work alongside you in the web. That is useful for websites like Time to Pet that don’t have very good automation. It will be interesting to see what this does to Zapier.

Maybe I should start a chat or even turn on voice mode. That is where things could get interesting. Though I do prefer silence when I write and get disturbed when I am taken out of the flow. I also want to get back to reading more often. That is the escape I need right now.

I don’t know if I really need or want an escape. I think what I want is more of an activity. I don’t feel much need to escape the world. I wish my kids would behave a little more and eat dinner at the appointed dinner eating time. Instead they don’t eat and then complain later about being hungry. What we need is a family menu meeting.

I feel I am typing faster while writing this. At this point the time should be about to go off. I know the AI isn’t peaking at this writing since I never activated the chat but I still have the feeling of being watched. It is a little weird. It is also slightly weird to decide to write in a browser inhabited by a being that is supposed to help, and I just had my first issue.

There is no native spell check. I would have had to ask the AI to spell the word I was struggling with. I don’t like that. Some tasks are so simple we don’t need the full AI. We just need the old fashioned prediction engine of trying to figure out what word I meant.

Poor Clippy. This era was made for him. Gone too soon.
