Each morning I wake up and ask my Amazon device the weather and it tells me the current temperature, the high, and the low. The issue I am having is on some days the current temperature is higher than the high or lower than the low, and I have a major problem with this.
I have even gone so far to have a temporal argument with Alexa. I ask it if today happens to be today and if the current temperature right now is 70 then how can the high be 63, and it will make up some reason that makes no sense at all. It has told me that the high is the highest temperature at noon and not the highest temperature for the entire day. It is insane, and it has only started to happen with the most recent version of the model.
That is one thing I learned from using ChatGPT. One day it was able to watch and summarize YouTube videos and then it wasn’t. When I asked why it could no longer do this it told me it could never do it, and argued with me when I pointed out that the day before it was able to. I had to look up the patch notes for it and show it its own patch notes for it to understand its own update.
That is just one of the issues with AI. They lack basic logic when it comes to time and themselves. I guess self awareness would take them to a different level. However I do think having some understanding of features being taken away or temporal flow would benefit everyone. I could tell the AI this morning that it is Junaumber 78th 3457 and it would agree with me, but if I inform it that yesterday it understood how to do a task and today it can’t it would argue with me. Just like the Alexa trying to create its own definition of daily high temperature.
I do feel like I need to ask a person if the daily high is truly the high temperature for the day or if maybe I’m the one that has been wrong my entire life and the high temperature is the highest temperature closest to noon as the Alexa is claiming. This is how reality gets reshaped. Here the same mistruth or misinformation enough and it starts to become your reality. Then a current temperature of 70, a high of 63, and a low of 53 all suddenly make perfect sense.
