Waking Up Tired

I cannot explain this morning. I woke up and everything was fine until I sat down to get to work. With Vacation Bible School going on this week I have to get work down early in the morning before heading off, and right now my eyes want to close and I want to be back asleep. I can’t explain it. This isn’t some super early time. This is the time I am normally up, but my body is crashing and wants sleep.

It wasn’t until I sat down either. Everything was fine while I was making my coffee. Then I got to thinking about things and I was asking myself if I remembered to do the things I needed to do in emails and trying to remember an email we got.

Everything is thrown off this week. I like structure and order, and shepherding around a bunch of 4-6 year old’s is the opposite of that. It also isn’t the day that today is supposed to be. The week has an expected rhythm and this isn’t it. I enjoy it and do it every year, but this year feels different and more hectic than other years.

I also don’t understand why I am so tired. I don’t know if maybe I took the wrong pill this morning and am falling asleep because of that. It is really hard to type with your head rolling all over the place and eyes refusing to stay open.

This is supposed to be a gratitude journal more than a ten minute writing exercise. I am falling back to one while forgetting the other. I did once write and entire post with my eyes closed because I found myself in a similar state.

I can’t say I enjoy the company of 4-6 year old’s but I do enjoy some of their personalities and it is good to help them learn. The best part of yesterday came after the volunteering. A massive storm hit and the skies opened. The streets were flooded to a point where I had to take my shoes off to get to my car, and when the sun came back out we did try to go to the water park.

The lesson from that is always check Facebook first because they were closed, and we spent way too much money to play mini-golf instead, but we had a good time, and that is what I wanted yesterday. Good family time.
