I can’t figure out American politics anymore. I am completely lost as to what exactly the plan is. The local congressional race here is extremely confusing. The incumbent has one commercial running against herself and several talking about stock trading by government officials. The latter might be a good position if the current party leader wasn’t on his own social media (a publicly traded company) bragging about insider trading.
Beyond all of that there is the simple fact that the current incumbent party has tied themselves to the stock market as look at how much money people are making over here and how strong American businesses are. Meanwhile they keep driving oil and bond yields higher with reckless actions and unpopular wars.
This plan makes no sense. Early voting is already happening and every time things start getting better they go and make it worse. I woke up to being $1000 down in the market this morning and when I tried to find a reason why all I can find is the administration is saying they might start bombing Iran again which in turn drives oil prices higher. There is also another bond auction coming up and despite the first two going fine people are scared little babies that like to jump in and out when news is coming.
I don’t know. I can’t tell you what is going on, what the plan is, or if there even is a plan. A bad plan is still a plan and it gives us something to understand. This round of politics gives us nothing to understand. It is like one party is trying desperately to lose yet claiming victory at every turn and the other party refuses to take advantage.
The old Lewis Black idiots and stupid joke comes to mind. Both parties are awful but stupid is funny. Right now I am finding it hard to find humor in the stupid people costing me money though. I go to sleep and everything is fine. I wake up to the world ending. Then by the afternoon everything is fine again.
